What is Fashion?

A frequently asked question, what is fashion? Is one that is hard to answer, and one that is open to different interpretations.
For me, fashion is a compilation of ideas, media, trends, art and inspiration becoming increasingly apparent in our society, with more people taking to the internet to blog, more and more peoples fashion ideas and tastes are being broadcasted all over the world. An ever growing industry, crowded with people wanting to stand out, taking more risks and trying to be more daring that the previous, it has become about being noticed.

Fashion can be about pushing the boundaries of what is 'normal' or 'mainstream', or truly expressing who you are or how you are feeling inside.

Some think fashion is all about new, looking to the future with constant new trends and styles and materials.
To some, fashion is merely a means of keeping warm, with no interest in the latest trends, or looking how society dictates to them.
It can also be a way to show cultural identity, or a particular religion using colours or a traditional dress.
Some belong to a particular social group such as Goth, emo, punk, indie, or dress according to the type of music they listen to.

However, in my opinion, fashion is pleasing, appealing to look at, simple and chic.
Ultimately though, fashion is whatever you want it to be and however you feel as a person, it is a reflection to others of your identity, of who you are.
